When it comes to lubrication, there are many choices!
Experiment to find out what type and brand you like best.
Using vaginally or with toys?
Looking for something that will last longer in water?
Using for anal play?
For anal play, try a thick silicone or water based lubrication, like Slippery Stuff Gel.
There are also lubricants designed specifically for anal sex. Some of these are lightly desensitizing (like Anal-Eaze that contains benzocaine) or have ingredients that relax and slightly numb the muscles to make anal sex more pleasurable (like ID Back Slide which contains clove).
Looking for flavored?
Looking for His & Her?
There are a few dual lubes that are aimed toward couples, like Wet Together or Wet Synergy Tingle.
What type of texture are you looking for?
Are Sensitivities a Concern?
If very sensitive skin is a concern, skip the silicone based lubrication and go for water based. Make sure the lube doesn’t contain methyl, glycerin, or paraben - like physician recommended Slippery Stuff. Also, try testing the lube first by applying it to the inside of your forearm or wrist and waiting a day to see if any irritation occurs.
If yeast infections are a concern, try a lube that contains hemp; as they are known to actually decrease occurrences of yeast infection.
